Job Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently using an ultra-heavy motor vehicle. The role includes vehicle inspections, loading and offloading, completing transport documentation, complying with road transport legislation, and maintaining excellent customer service standards.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Grade 11 or lower with verbal and numerical literacy.
• Valid Code EC (Code 14) driver’s licence.
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP-DGP).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience driving ultra-heavy motor vehicles.
• Own reliable transport to and from work.
• Must be 25 years of age or older.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Applicants should also have knowledge of:

• Defensive driving techniques.
• Vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Vehicle components and emergency reporting procedures.
• Fire extinguisher operation.
• Vehicle loading techniques.
• Maximising vehicle efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

• Prepare the vehicle before every trip.
• Safely load, transport, and offload goods.
• Perform vehicle inspections before and after each journey.
• Complete all required transport and delivery documentation.
• Ensure vehicles are not overloaded in accordance with the National Road Traffic Act.

• Secure loads correctly before departure.
• Operate or supervise offloading equipment where required.
• Open and close tarpaulins when applicable.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness, housekeeping, PPE, and company standards.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service.
• Follow all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety regulations.
• Carry out any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.

Additional Requirements
