Truck Driver Training Programme Opportunities in Saldanha

Pindulo VDM is inviting applications from ambitious and motivated individuals for its 2026 Occupational Certificate: Truck Driver Programme. Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this programme, applicants must:

• Be a South African citizen.
• Be between the ages of 18 and 35 years.
• Have a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent qualification.
• Hold a valid EC (Code 14) Driver’s Licence.
• Hold a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
• Have a clear criminal record.

TRUCK DRIVER LEARNERSHIP – REQUIREMENTS

• School Certificate (Grade 10, 11 or 12)
• Fluent in English
• Medically fit
• Valid Code 14 (EC) driver’s licence with PrDP

My take on this

For young Code 14 drivers, this is a solid entry point into structured trucking work. Learnerships like these matter in South Africa because many drivers struggle to break in without formal backing, even when they have licences. The age cap is strict, though, and unfortunately excludes many capable drivers who only managed to qualify later in life — a real industry problem.
