Position Overview

As a Transport Logistics Clerk at Astron, you will be responsible for tracking and monitoring vehicle movements using the SatTrack System and GTSA systems, ensuring that all fleet activities are properly logged and recorded. In this temporary, fixed-term role, your ability to maintain detailed records, manage incidents such as thefts or hijackings, and handle the operational productivity of the transport fleet will be crucial.

This role also involves overseeing pallet movements and keeping meticulous transport statistics for all depots within the business unit. Working in the petroleum division, you’ll need to be highly organized and able to respond swiftly to operational issues such as faulty tracking units or false alarms.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for the Transport Logistics Clerk position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications and experience:

  • Grade 12 Certificate (Matric).
  • A tertiary qualification in Admin or Transport fields will be advantageous but is not mandatory.
  • Previous experience in tracking vehicle movements, especially using SatTrack or GTSA systems, will be highly beneficial.

  1. Fleet Monitoring and Tracking
    • Operate and manage the GTSA systems to track vehicle movements, ensuring all fleet activities are monitored in real-time.
    • Proactively handle and monitor vehicle hijackings or thefts by responding promptly and accurately.
  2. Incident and Accident Management
    • Prepare and submit detailed reports on incidents and accidents involving the fleet.
    • Collaborate with the relevant departments to ensure proper procedures are followed during emergencies.
  3. Fault Reporting
    • Keep a log of faulty tracking units and report them for maintenance or replacement.
    • Ensure the smooth operation of tracking systems to prevent delays or inefficiencies in the transport process.
  4. Pallet and Depot Management
    • Maintain and update records of all pallet movements, ensuring inventory is accurate and controlled across multiple depots.
    • Keep a detailed account of all transport statistics, contributing to the overall productivity of the logistics operation.
  5. Productivity Reporting
    • Monitor the daily productivity of the transport fleet and log any anomalies or issues that could affect operational efficiency.
    • Ensure shift work is completed effectively and report any productivity concerns to supervisors.
