About the Role

Are you an experienced forklift operator looking for a stable, rewarding position? We are currently seeking a dedicated Forklift Operator to join our team within the Consumer Division’s Isanti Project Fund at our Tulisa Park location. In this role, you’ll be a crucial part of our logistics and warehousing operations, responsible for efficiently moving products, materials, and equipment across our premises. Your role will be essential to maintaining the flow of goods, ensuring that products are accurately staged, loaded, and unloaded.

This position is perfect for someone with a strong work ethic, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to maintaining safety and precision in their work. As a Forklift Operator, you’ll be working in a fast-paced environment under clear supervision, following standardised processes and contributing to our smooth daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

As a Forklift Operator, your day-to-day responsibilities will include the following:

  1. Loading and Unloading Goods
    • Safely operate a forklift to load and unload materials onto and off pallets, skids, and other lifting devices.
    • Position the forklift forks or lifting platform around pallets, skids, boxes, or other products to transport them to designated areas within the warehouse or distribution center.
    • Ensure proper handling and secure placement of loads to prevent product damage and maintain workplace safety.
  2. Staging and Transporting Materials
    • Stage products accurately in the designated lanes, ensuring all items are placed according to schedule and job requirements.
    • Transport products across the warehouse and facility areas, helping streamline operations by ensuring materials are where they need to be.
    • Monitor product staging zones to avoid overcrowding and to ensure goods are positioned correctly for easy access.
  3. Routine Forklift Checks and Maintenance
    • Perform regular checks on the forklift to ensure it is in safe working condition, reporting any issues to the maintenance team immediately.
    • Follow all operational and safety guidelines for forklift use, including regular inspection of brakes, forks, hydraulic systems, and other components.
    • Keep accurate records of forklift maintenance and inspections, helping to uphold our high safety and operational standards.
  4. Warehouse Organisation and Housekeeping
    • Maintain a clean and organised work area by performing regular housekeeping duties in the warehouse, ensuring pathways are clear and goods are neatly arranged.
    • Assist with waste disposal and recycling activities, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
    • Follow all company procedures for the safe handling and storage of products, contributing to a well-organised, efficient, and clean workplace.
  5. Use of Scanner and Inventory Management
    • Use handheld scanners to track and update product movement, ensuring real-time accuracy in inventory records.
    • Assist with inventory management by recording product locations, quantities, and movements accurately in the company’s system.
    • Collaborate with the warehouse team to manage stock levels, prepare for inventory audits, and ensure products are easy to locate and dispatch.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Grade 12 or National Certificate (NQF Level 4).
  • Forklift License: A valid forklift license is mandatory, reflecting your competency in safe forklift operation.
  • Experience: Up to 2 years of experience as a forklift operator, preferably in a fast-paced warehousing or logistics environment.
  • Skills:
    • Attention to Detail: Precise handling of materials to ensure safe and accurate transport.
    • Safety-Conscious: Strong understanding of forklift safety protocols, with a proven track record of accident-free operation.
    • Physical Stamina: Able to work on your feet for extended periods, including lifting and moving heavy materials when required.
    • Team Player: Comfortable working as part of a team, contributing to the smooth workflow of warehouse operations.
    • Basic Computer Literacy: Experience using scanners or basic inventory management systems is a plus.
