Driver Position – Chipkins Puratos

Location: Bloemfontein
Position Type: Permanent


Position Overview

Chipkins Puratos is seeking a reliable and dedicated Code 10 Driver to join our team in Bloemfontein. This role requires an individual who can deliver products efficiently and professionally, ensuring that customers experience exceptional service. The ideal candidate will also assist with operational duties while maintaining company values and promoting customer satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities

1. Delivery and Customer Service:

  • Safely load customer stock manually into the delivery truck, ensuring accuracy by verifying against invoices.
  • Deliver goods to customers promptly and courteously, maintaining high levels of professionalism.
  • Obtain customer signatures on invoices as proof of delivery and acknowledgment of goods received.
  • Provide outstanding customer service by addressing concerns and maintaining positive relationships.
  • Record temperature readings on delivery invoices when required, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and obtaining counter-signatures from receiving managers or clerks.

2. Vehicle Operations and Safety:

  • Adhere to all National Road Traffic rules and regulations at all times.
  • Perform regular inspections to ensure the truck is clean and roadworthy before each trip.
  • Handle the company vehicle with care, ensuring economic and efficient use.
  • Assist with the offloading of stock at customer premises alongside the truck assistant.

3. Cash Handling and Returns:

  • Manage Cash On Delivery (COD) payments from customers during trips and ensure accurate recording.
  • Communicate with the Creditors Clerk regarding delivery arrangements when customers are not prepared with payments.
  • Uplift returned stock from customers as required and ensure accurate documentation.

4. Administrative Duties:

  • Complete all trip-related administrative tasks, including verifying documentation and maintaining delivery records.
  • Submit trip logs and proof of delivery documents to the relevant department.

5. General Support:

  • Perform operational tasks as assigned by supervisors, ensuring seamless business operations.
  • Participate in team activities and collaborate with colleagues to maintain a cohesive working environment.

Minimum Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following criteria:

Education and Licensing:

  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • Valid Code 10 Driver’s License (Code 14 is an advantage).
  • Possess a valid Professional Driver’s Permit (PDP).

Experience:

  • 2–3 years of experience driving a Code 10 vehicle.
  • Previous experience handling delivery operations is highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic arithmetic skills for managing cash payments and recording data.
  • Strong understanding of local languages is advantageous.
  • Excellent written comprehension and verbal communication skills.

Personal Attributes:

  • Hardworking, trustworthy, and service-oriented.

  • Organized with strong time management skills.

Availability:

  • Flexibility to work beyond normal hours, including weekends and overtime when necessary.
