Main Purpose of the Position
The primary goal of the position is to handle products safely and deliver them to their designated locations in the most economical and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities
As a Heavy Vehicle Driver, your duties will include:
1. Safe Product Delivery
- Ensure the correct product is delivered to the appropriate destination, following all company protocols and customer instructions.
- Plan and execute trips to maximise fuel efficiency and minimise wear and tear on the vehicle.
2. Compliance with Legislation and Regulations
- Adhere to all road traffic laws, company safety protocols, and standing regulations to maintain safety for yourself, your cargo, and other road users.
- Conduct regular checks to ensure all documentation, such as permits and licenses, is valid and up to date.
3. Documentation Administration
- Complete all delivery documentation accurately and ensure it is submitted promptly.
- Maintain records for loading, delivery, and unloading activities, ensuring transparency and accountability.
4. Equipment Handling
- Operate vehicles and related equipment with care to avoid damage and maintain optimal performance.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to identify and report any mechanical issues.
5. Customer Satisfaction
- Engage professionally with customers to ensure a positive experience during product delivery.
- Respond to customer inquiries or concerns during the delivery process.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Minimum Grade 10 qualification.
- Licensing: Valid Code 14 driver’s license with a Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
- Experience: At least 2–3 years of experience as a heavy vehicle driver, preferably in the agricultural or logistics sector.
