Position Overview
As a Bus Driver, you will transport passengers on scheduled services over established routes, ensuring they arrive safely and on time. Your responsibilities will include maintaining the safety and comfort of passengers, adhering to traffic laws, and complying with Unitrans policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
As a Bus Driver at Unitrans, your duties will include:
1. Passenger and Vehicle Safety
- Drive defensively and preventively to ensure passenger and road user safety.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to identify and address any deviations or malfunctions in the vehicle.
- Report near misses, incidents, or property damage to management immediately.
- Enforce the mandatory use of seat belts for all passengers and the driver.
2. Operations and Compliance
- Follow the customer’s SMS policies and adhere to traffic laws.
- Complete logbooks accurately and maintain up-to-date records of activities.
- Ensure the bus is refueled and kept clean at all times.
- Adhere strictly to the assigned route, stopping only at authorized locations.
- Respect speed limits, signage, and other traffic regulations.
3. Professional Conduct
- Maintain a positive and respectful attitude towards customers and colleagues.
- Avoid unauthorized deviations from routes unless directed by a supervisor.
- Ensure stops and vehicle operation align with company policies and standards.
- Report any vehicle damage or mechanical issues to the manager or supervisor on duty.
4. Incident Reporting and Problem Solving
- Immediately report any accidents, incidents, or related matters to the line supervisor and record details.
- Participate in discussions on incidents during training or debrief sessions with supervisors and health and safety teams.
5. Training and Compliance
- Attend training sessions to remain updated on Unitrans policies and safety procedures.
- Adhere to written procedures for all activities and comply with company codes of conduct.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Education and Certifications
- Grade 12 or National Certificate.
- Valid Public Services Driving License (PG).
- Valid CE – G, CE – PG, and C – G Driver’s License.
- RAC2 card (or willingness to obtain).
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of professional driving experience in a similar position.
Skills and Attributes
- Proficiency in defensive and preventive driving techniques.
- Strong understanding of traffic laws and adherence to company policies.
- Ability to complete accurate reports and logbooks.
- Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude.
