Job Overview

Unitrans is looking for a qualified and experienced Code 14 Driver to join our Anchor Yeast Local contract team in Industria, Johannesburg. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and reliable driver to showcase their expertise and contribute to the smooth transportation of goods within the organisation.


Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Grade 12 (National Certificate).
  • Licensing:
    • Valid Code EC (Code 14) driver’s license with a current Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience operating ultra-heavy vehicles.
    • At least 3 years’ experience driving Superlink, Interlink, or similar heavy vehicle combinations.
  • Skills and Knowledge:
    • Proficiency in defensive driving techniques.
    • Knowledge of vehicle inspection procedures and emergency response protocols.
    • Familiarity with fire extinguisher operation.
    • Expertise in loading and offloading heavy vehicles.
    • Ability to maximise vehicle efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
    • Reliable personal transportation to and from work.
    • Clean criminal record.
    • Medically fit for the role.

Key Responsibilities

As an Ultra-heavy Motor Vehicle Driver, you will be responsible for the following:

  1. Vehicle Preparation and Operation
    • Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
    • Operate ultra-heavy vehicles in a safe, efficient, and professional manner.
  2. Cargo Handling
    • Safely load and offload goods following proper techniques to ensure cargo safety.
    • Handle and process required delivery documentation.
  3. Safety and Compliance
    • Adhere to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety policies.
    • Maintain a clean and safe driving record.
    • Ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the vehicle, uniform, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  4. Training and Development
    • Participate in mandatory training sessions, including:
      • Medical evaluations.
      • USCS training modules.
      • Induction programs.
      • Practical driving assessments.
    • Maintain compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  5. Other Duties
    • Complete any reasonable instructions provided by supervisors.
