Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Petroleum Tanker Driver to join our team at Air Liquide Secunda. This position involves operating ultra-heavy-duty vehicles with a gross vehicle mass or gross combination mass exceeding 25,000kg.

The ideal candidate will prioritise safety, efficiency, and professional conduct while ensuring the seamless delivery of petroleum products.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following qualifications and criteria:

1. Educational Background:
   • Grade 12 / Matric (NQF Level 4) or Grade 10 (NQF Level 2).
2. Licensing and Certifications:
   • Code EC (Code 14) driver’s license with a valid PrDP.
   • “D” endorsement for operating Dangerous Goods (DG) vehicles if applicable.
3. Work Experience:
   • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a petroleum tanker driver.

1. Additional Requirements:
   • Proven safe driving record with no previous traffic violations.
   • Clean criminal record.
   • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.

Key Responsibilities

1. Pre-Trip Preparation:

• Conduct thorough inspections of the vehicle before and after each trip to ensure roadworthiness.
• Verify the condition and functionality of equipment and documentation before departure.
• Take full accountability for the vehicle’s condition when leaving the depot.

2. Vehicle Operation and Transportation:

• Operate ultra-heavy-duty vehicles for the safe and efficient delivery of petroleum products.
• Manage the loading and offloading of goods while adhering to safety protocols.
• Transport cargo responsibly, ensuring customer satisfaction and product integrity.

3. Documentation and Reporting:

• Accurately handle and process delivery documents from dispatch to customer and back to the distribution centre.
• Ensure all cargo is accounted for during transit and maintain proper record-keeping practices.

4. Safety Compliance:

• Adhere to company safety policies, SOPs, and Dangerous Goods transportation regulations at all times.
• Implement defensive driving techniques and demonstrate vigilance on the road.

5. Flexibility and Collaboration:

• Be prepared to work variable hours, including shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
• Respond promptly to supervisor instructions and requests.

6. Maintenance and Cleanliness:

• Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle and associated equipment.
• Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during all duties.
