At Unitrans, we are proud to support opportunities within the chemicals industry. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Code 14 Driver to join our team at AEL Modderfontein. If you have a passion for safe and efficient driving, along with extensive experience in bulk chemical transport, this role is for you!

Purpose of the Job:
To prepare and operate ultra-heavy motor vehicles for the safe and efficient transportation of bulk chemicals, ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare vehicles for trips and operate heavy-duty vehicles.
• Handle documentation from dispatch to the customer and back to the distribution center.
• Perform vehicle inspections before and after trips.
• Account for all goods being transported to customers.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, including defensive driving and emergency reporting procedures.
• Work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
• Follow all reasonable instructions from supervisors.

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 10 literacy level.
• Valid Code 14 driver’s license with a Professional Driving Permit (PrDP EC1).
• 5 years of articulated driving experience in bulk chemical transport (semi-trailer and double combination).
• Long-distance and cross-border driving experience.
• Medically fit with a clean criminal record.
• Knowledge of Eaton Fuller and ZF gearboxes.
• Understanding of vehicle components, Road Traffic Act, and driver actions in various conditions.
• Ability to perform vehicle inspections and operate fire extinguishers.
• Skills in maximizing vehicle cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
• Knowledge of vehicle loading techniques.
