About the Opportunity
Triton Academy is a QCTO- and TETA-accredited Skills Development Provider offering learnership programmes in freight handling and truck driving to staff members and unemployed learners.
The academy is inviting motivated and committed individuals to join its talent pool for future intakes of the 18-month Occupational Certificate: Truck Driver Learnership. The programme is designed to empower unemployed South African youth through structured theoretical training, practical workplace experience and mentorship within the logistics industry.
Training opportunities are available in Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Polokwane. Triton Academy may also assist customers in other locations where possible.
Important: This is not an immediate employment opportunity. Successful applicants will be considered for future learnership intakes.
Learnership Responsibilities
Learners will be expected to develop competence in the following areas:
- Ensuring goods are correctly loaded, secured and protected during transit.
- Operating vehicles responsibly under different road and weather conditions.
- Delivering and collecting freight on time while maintaining service standards.
- Reporting vehicle defects, incidents and delays to supervisors.
- Performing general housekeeping and ancillary duties in the warehouse and yard.
- Providing professional and courteous service to customers and colleagues.
- Following workplace safety procedures and company instructions.
Learning and Development
The programme includes:
- Structured theoretical training aligned with the QCTO curriculum.
- Practical workplace experience and mentorship.
- Preparation for the final external examination.
- Theoretical, practical and workplace-based learning components.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be between 23 and 35 years of age.
- Have a C1 driving licence and a valid PrDP.
- Have at least two years of driving experience.
- Possess Matric/Grade 12, TVET N3 or NQF Level 3.
- Have achieved a minimum of 40% in English and Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy.
- Provide proof of a certified Matric certificate and/or a complete academic record, together with a copy of an ID.
- Have a clear criminal record.
- Not have a bursary obligation with another company.
- Not currently be employed or studying.
- Preferably reside within a 20–25 km radius of the company.
- Be medically fit.
- Be able to read, write and communicate in English.
- Be numerically literate.
- Be willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
- Have reliable personal transport.
Advantageous Skills and Experience
The following will be advantageous:
- Computer literacy.
- Previous experience in logistics or warehousing.
