About the Position
Brights Hardware is seeking a dependable and customer-focused Code 10 Driver to join our Blackheath Distribution Centre. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate, punctual, and damage-free delivery of goods to customers and branches. This position is essential in maintaining customer satisfaction, driving sales, and supporting sustainable business growth.
Purpose of the Job
The main responsibility of this role is to guarantee the efficient delivery of goods while providing exceptional customer service. Duties include interacting with customers and branch staff, overseeing the loading and unloading of stock, conducting routine vehicle inspections, and ensuring deliveries meet company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery and Customer Service
- Provide outstanding customer service during all deliveries.
- Ensure all outgoing stock has proper documentation before being loaded.
- Plan the most efficient delivery routes to maximise time and fuel efficiency.
- Ensure stock is delivered in excellent condition and meet customer expectations.
Vehicle Maintenance and Reporting
- Perform daily pre-trip vehicle inspections to confirm roadworthiness (record findings on trip sheets).
- Report any vehicle defects to your Supervisor by completing a vehicle repair report.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and basic upkeep.
Documentation and Coordination
- Complete daily trip sheets, recording opening/closing kilometres and departure/arrival times.
- Ensure transfer logbooks are updated and signed by receiving branches.
- Monitor truck assistants, ensuring they remain with the truck at all times during deliveries.
Administrative and General Duties
- Submit weekly evaluation reports to your Supervisor.
- Report any delivery delays or issues promptly.
- Participate in perpetual stock takes and assist with other tasks as assigned by superiors.
Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent.
- Candidates without Matric but with a valid licence and 3 years of driving experience will also be considered.
- Minimum 3 years driving experience with a proven track record of safe and efficient deliveries.
Licensing and Permits
- Valid Code 10 Driver’s Licence (higher codes advantageous).
- Valid PDP (Public Driving Permit) for Goods and Passengers.
Skills and Attributes
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to handle pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Good planning, time management, and organisational skills.
- Understanding of vehicle loading processes and monitoring practices.
