Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Grade 12 or National Certificate.
• Licensing: Valid Code EC driver’s license with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience driving Ultra-heavy vehicles.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience driving Superlink/Interlink/combination vehicles.
• Skills and Knowledge:
  • Defensive driving techniques.
  • Knowledge of reporting procedures for emergencies and defects.
  • Ability to conduct vehicle inspections and operate a fire extinguisher.
  • Understanding of vehicle loading and offloading techniques.
  • Ability to maximize vehicle cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
• Other Requirements:
  • Must be prepared to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Own reliable transport to and from work.
  • Clean criminal record.
  • Medically fit to perform the duties of the role.

Duties & Responsibilities

As an Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver, you will be responsible for the following:

1. Vehicle Preparation and Operation:
   • Prepare vehicles for trips and operate Ultra-heavy-duty vehicles safely and efficiently.
   • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicles are in optimal condition.
2. Loading, Transport, and Offloading:
   • Safely load, transport, and offload goods in accordance with company procedures.
   • Ensure that cargo is securely fastened and transported without damage.
3. Documentation and Ancillary Duties:
   • Handle all required documentation, including trip logs, delivery notes, and incident reports.
   • Perform ancillary duties as required to support operational efficiency.

1. Compliance and Safety:
   • Adhere to and promote Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
   • Maintain a safe driving record and ensure compliance with all traffic laws and regulations.
2. Housekeeping and Maintenance:
   • Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of vehicles, uniforms, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
   • Report any vehicle defects or maintenance needs promptly.
3. Training and Evaluation:
   • Successfully complete the following:
     • Medical evaluation.
     • USCS training modules.
     • Induction processes.
     • Practical driving evaluation.
     • Verification of a clean criminal record.
4. Shift Work and Flexibility:
   • Be prepared to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
   • Follow all reasonable instructions from supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
