Role Overview
As a Code 14 / EC Driver, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and timely transport of goods across various locations. This role is perfect for seasoned drivers who are passionate about logistics, have strong attention to detail, and can deliver outstanding service under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Vehicle Operation: Drive and operate heavy-duty vehicles, ensuring safety and compliance with traffic regulations.
- Delivery and Transport: Efficiently handle long-distance trips and deliveries using various truck configurations, including side tippers, flat decks, and tautliners.
- Vehicle Inspections: Perform routine vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness, identifying and reporting any maintenance needs promptly.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of trips, including delivery notes, logbooks, and fuel usage.
- Health and Safety: Adhere to all company and industry health and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of yourself and others.
- Flexibility: Be prepared to work at any depot as required by the company.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Citizenship: Only South African citizens may apply.
- Driving Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ long-distance driving experience with a Code 14 / EC driver’s license.
- Licenses and Documentation:
- Valid PrDP (Professional Driving Permit) with at least six months before expiry.
- A valid passport for cross-border trips.
- Qualifications:
- SARS-compliant (IT 150 or IRP5 certificate required).
- Clean Record:
- No criminal record (police clearance may be required).
- Physical Fitness: Applicants must be medically fit to perform their duties.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with prior experience driving and operating:
- Side tippers, flat decks, and tautliners (primary experience).
- Additional experience with tankers, lowbeds, and other heavy-duty vehicles is advantageous.
