Job Summary

As a Driver Trainer at Lucerne Transport, you will conduct in-house training sessions for drivers and lower-skilled employees. Your training will cover vital areas such as health and safety, customer service, compliance with the National Road Traffic Act, and leadership development. Collaborating closely with Contract Managers, you’ll ensure that drivers consistently meet the company and client standards, contributing to the overall success of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Training Delivery: Conduct comprehensive training sessions, including new employee orientation, health and safety practices, customer service, and leadership development.
• Driver Assessment: Perform in-cab assessments, job observations, site inspections, and route risk assessments to evaluate and improve driver performance.
• Coaching and Development: Provide remedial training and coaching, utilizing Drive cam coaching and in-cab sessions to enhance driver skills.
• Data Management: Maintain accurate driver files and ensure timely data capturing on the learner management system.
• Administrative Support: Manage administrative duties related to training sessions and driver assessments.
• Customer Relations: Liaise with customers to ensure their requirements are met and maintain strong customer relationships.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Matric or equivalent.
• Qualifications:
  • Qualified TETA Facilitator and Assessor.
  • Certificates in First Aid, Firefighting, Operate a Vehicle Combination, and Dangerous Goods are essential.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a driver.
  • At least 6 years’ experience as a driver trainer.
• Skills:
  • Conflict Management, Planning & Organising, Motivational Skills, Flexibility.
  • Strong Computer Skills and Problem-Solving abilities.
  • Excellent Time Management and Teamwork capabilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of the National Road Traffic Act and audit procedures.
