About the Role
Unitrans is currently seeking an experienced Driver to join our Admin Foods contract in Pretoria West. This position offers a stable, long-term opportunity for a dedicated professional with a strong background in operating heavy-duty vehicles.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Grade 12 or equivalent (National Certificate).
- Driver’s License:
- Valid Code EC (Code 14) license.
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
- Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience operating ultra-heavy vehicles.
- At least 3 years’ experience driving Superlink, Interlink, or similar vehicle combinations.
- Proven experience with refrigerated vehicles and Tail Lifts is essential.
- Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficiency in defensive driving techniques.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures and defect reporting.
- Ability to perform thorough vehicle inspections and use a fire extinguisher.
- Expertise in loading and offloading techniques for ultra-heavy vehicles.
- Capability to maximise vehicle efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to work weekends, shifts, and public holidays.
- Reliable personal transport for commuting to and from work.
- Clean criminal record.
- Medically fit to meet the physical demands of the job.
Key Responsibilities
As an Ultra-heavy Motor Vehicle Driver, your core duties will include:
- Vehicle Operations
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and roadworthiness.
- Operate ultra-heavy vehicles efficiently and professionally.
- Cargo Management
- Safely load, transport, and offload goods, adhering to best practices for handling refrigerated cargo and Tail Lifts.
- Ensure accurate completion of all delivery documentation.
- Safety and Compliance
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean driving record and comply with traffic regulations.
- Keep the vehicle, uniform, and personal protective equipment (PPE) clean and presentable.
- Training and Evaluation
- Participate in required training programs, such as:
- Medical assessments.
- USCS training modules.
- Induction sessions.
- Practical driving evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company standards.

- General Duties
- Follow instructions from supervisors and perform any ancillary tasks as required.
