Job Description: Petroleum Tanker Driver
Shell Killarney is seeking an experienced Petroleum Tanker Driver to join their Freight Division on a permanent basis in Milnerton, Cape Town. This role involves the operation of ultra-heavy duty vehicles with a gross vehicle mass exceeding 25,000 kg, ensuring safe and efficient transportation of petroleum products. The ideal candidate must have a strong track record in the safe handling of hazardous materials and be committed to maintaining the highest safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Vehicle Preparation:
- Prepare vehicles for trips, ensuring they are roadworthy and compliant with safety standards.
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after each trip to identify any potential issues.
- Operation of Heavy-Duty Vehicles:
- Safely operate ultra-heavy duty vehicles, adhering to all legal and company regulations.
- Handle all necessary documentation from dispatch to delivery and return to the distribution center.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Take full responsibility for the vehicle’s roadworthiness before leaving the depot.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including those related to hazardous materials.
- Be prepared to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
- Goods Management:
- Ensure accurate accounting for all goods being transported.
- Ensure the safe and secure transportation of goods, following instructions from supervisors.
Minimum Requirements
- Education:
- Grade 12 / Matric / NQF level 4, or Grade 10 / NQF level 2.
- Experience:
- At least 3 years of experience as a Petroleum Tanker Driver.
- A valid Code EC driver’s license with a PrDP (“D” endorsement if required for DG vehicles).
- A safe driving record and a clean criminal record.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Ability to perform vehicle inspections and manage documentation accurately.
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance with road traffic and hazardous materials regulations.
- Willingness to work in a demanding schedule that may include shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
