Job Summary:

Sysco’s SYGMA Network is seeking a skilled Driver, Linehaul to join our team in Indianapolis, Indiana. This position involves the safe and efficient transportation of products from our warehouse to various customer locations. As a Linehaul Driver, you will drive a tractor-trailer, ensuring that all deliveries are made accurately and on time, according to customer invoices and company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely transport products from the warehouse to customer locations according to an assigned route.
• Load and unload products as per customer specifications, ensuring timely delivery.
• Complete all required paperwork, including DOT logs, vehicle maintenance reports, and delivery invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company and governmental guidelines.
• Adhere to food safety protocols, maintaining proper temperatures in the delivery vehicle.
• Operate all assigned equipment safely, including pallets, load bars, and personal protective equipment.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers, providing excellent service and clear communication.
• Report any route deviations, trailer or loading issues, and customer or product concerns to the management team.
• Work the assigned schedule, with the flexibility to work outside usual hours as needed to meet customer demands.
• Exhibit regular and predictable attendance.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• 1 year of tractor-trailer driving experience preferred.
• Completion of a tractor-trailer driving school can be considered in lieu of the high school diploma.

Certifications and Requirements:

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Must be insurable to operate a vehicle as a condition of employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of DOT regulations, Hazmat guidelines, and safe lifting and delivery practices.
• Proficiency in driving long distances across various terrains and weather conditions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers.
• Capability to operate a 3-axle tractor, 45′-48′ trailer, straight truck, and onboard computer keypad.
• Ability to meet or exceed the company’s minimum productivity levels.
• Must be able to perform basic math functions and plan work activities independently.

Physical Demands:

• Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear.
• Occasionally required to lift, push, or move products weighing up to 50 pounds by hand and push/pull up to 350 pounds using a 2-wheeled hand cart.
• Ability to climb in and out of a tractor and trailer.
• Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

• Exposure to varying weather conditions, including wet, hot, extreme cold, or humid environments.
• Potential exposure to moving mechanical parts, confined spaces, and high, precarious places.
• Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
• Typically works an overnight schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required to meet customer needs.
• Moderate noise level in the work environment.
