The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a motor vehicle with a gross vehicle mass or gross combination mass exceeding 25,000 kg. Minimum Requirements

  • Educational Qualifications:
    • Grade 12 / Matric / NQF Level 4
    • Grade 10 / NQF Level 2
  • Licensing:
    • Code EC PrDP – “D” (if required to operate a DG vehicle)
  • Experience:
    • At least 3 years of experience as a petroleum tanker driver
    • Safe driving record
    • Clean criminal record

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Trip Preparation:
    • Prepare vehicles thoroughly before embarking on trips, ensuring all checks are completed.
  • Vehicle Operation:
    • Operate ultra-heavy-duty vehicles with professionalism and adherence to safety standards.
  • Vehicle Inspection:
    • Conduct vehicle inspections both before and after trips to ensure the vehicle’s condition is maintained.
  • Documentation Handling:
    • Manage and process all necessary documentation from dispatch to customer delivery and return to the distribution center.
  • Roadworthiness:
    • Take full responsibility for ensuring the vehicle’s roadworthiness when departing from the depot.
  • Work Schedule:
    • Be prepared to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as per operational requirements.
  • Accountability:
    • Ensure all goods being transported to the customer are accounted for and delivered safely.
  • Compliance:
    • Follow all reasonable instructions provided by the supervisor to maintain efficiency and safety.

This role is integral to the efficient distribution of petroleum products and requires a responsible, experienced individual who is committed to maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism.
