Main Purpose of the Job

The Code 10 Truck Driver will be responsible for delivering glass products to and from customers in an efficient, timely, and safe manner. Maintaining high-quality service standards and adhering to all road regulations are key priorities in this role. Additionally, the driver will ensure accurate recording of necessary paperwork during the delivery process.

Key Responsibilities:

• Efficient Route Planning: Demonstrate a solid understanding of road networks in the delivery area, ensuring timely deliveries.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Maintain a clean and well-serviced vehicle, both inside and out, at all times. Regularly inspect the vehicle and report any issues immediately.
• Accurate Documentation: Complete trip sheets and quality check sheets with integrity and accuracy, ensuring all paperwork is properly filled out and neat.
• Loading and Offloading: Safely load and offload glass materials at each delivery point, ensuring proper handling of delicate goods. Assist in loading material before departing from the premises.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all environmental, safety, and housekeeping standards. Follow road regulations and internal company procedures diligently.
• Collaboration and Customer Service: Foster good working relationships with internal teams and external customers. Be reliable, trustworthy, and maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions.
• Adaptability and Willingness to Work Overtime: Be open to working overtime, weekends, and shifts as required by business demands.
• Team Support: Assist the Factory Services Manager with any additional tasks to support factory operations.

Critical Job Requirements

Qualification:

• Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
• Valid Code 10 (or higher) driver’s license with a PrDP.

Skills:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in interacting with customers.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills, particularly for handling paperwork and trip sheets.

Experience:

• Experience in handling and moving dangerous goods, especially glass products.
• Familiarity with reading drawings and production orders is an advantage.
• Minimum of 2 years of driving experience, with experience in glass handling and quality control being highly advantageous.
