Job Overview:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and responsible Code 10 Driver for vehicles between 3501 – 9000 kg. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth transportation and delivery of goods, maintaining company standards, and providing top-notch customer service. The successful candidate will be responsible for safe and efficient deliveries while performing regular vehicle inspections and maintaining high levels of professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Safe and Timely Deliveries:
    • Execute deliveries efficiently, ensuring that the correct routes are followed, and deliveries are made on time.
    • Safeguard the goods during transit by ensuring that they are properly packed and securely fastened to prevent damage or breakage.
  2. Loading and Offloading Assistance:
    • Help supervise and assist with the loading and unloading of goods, ensuring that everything is handled safely and properly.
    • Verify that all goods match the Delivery Note and secure customer signatures as Proof of Delivery.
  3. Routine Vehicle Inspections:
    • Conduct regular pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any potential issues or defects immediately.
    • Perform daily vehicle checks, including tires, brakes, lights, and fuel levels, to ensure roadworthiness.
  4. Vehicle Care and Maintenance:
    • Keep the delivery vehicle in optimal condition by maintaining cleanliness, fueling, and performing minor maintenance as necessary.
    • Report any mechanical issues or required repairs to the Warehouse Supervisor or designated personnel promptly.
  5. Delivery Documentation:
    • Ensure the accurate completion and management of Delivery Notes and other relevant documents.
    • Collect payments on Cash-On-Delivery (COD) orders and ensure the funds are securely handed over to the appropriate team upon return to the depot.
  6. Customer Interaction:
    • Build strong relationships with customers by offering exceptional service, being courteous, and addressing any concerns or questions professionally.
    • Handle customer queries about deliveries, ensuring clear communication and timely resolutions for any issues.
  7. Cost-Effective Operations:
    • Follow company protocols for cost-efficient driving to minimize wear and tear on the vehicle and reduce fuel consumption.
    • Keep accurate records of driving routes, fuel consumption, and any potential delays to help improve operational efficiency.
  8. Adherence to Safety Regulations:
    • Strictly adhere to all road safety regulations and company policies to ensure safe driving and delivery practices.
    • Follow company safety protocols for loading and handling goods, ensuring that safety procedures are implemented at every stage of the process.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Education:
    • A minimum of Grade 12 (Matric) is required for this role.
  2. License Requirements:
    • Must hold a valid Code 10 driver’s license for heavy motor vehicles, with experience driving vehicles in the weight range of 3501 – 9000 kg.
  3. Experience:
    • At least 2 years of driving experience in a similar logistics or supply chain role is essential.
    • Prior experience in supervising loading/unloading and handling large deliveries is required.
