As a Petroleum Tanker Driver, you will be tasked with operating ultra-heavy-duty vehicles with a gross vehicle mass (GVM) exceeding 25,000 kg. This role requires attention to safety, efficient delivery, and strict adherence to road regulations. Key Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum qualifications and experience:

  • Educational Qualification:
    • Grade 12 | Matric | National Certificate (NQF Level 4)
    • Grade 10 | NQF Level 2 will also be considered.
  • Driver’s License:
    • Code 14/EC PrDP – “D” (if required to operate a DG vehicle).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience operating petroleum tankers.
  • Driving Record:
    • A safe driving record is essential, and applicants must have a clean criminal record.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, ensuring the safe and efficient transport of petroleum products. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Vehicle Preparation and Operation
    • You will be responsible for preparing vehicles for trips, ensuring they are roadworthy and ready to go before leaving the depot.
    • Operate ultra-heavy-duty vehicles, adhering to road safety regulations and company policies throughout the journey.
  2. Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance
    • Perform thorough inspections of the vehicle before and after trips, identifying any potential issues that may affect roadworthiness.
    • Ensure that the vehicle complies with all safety requirements and report any deficiencies to supervisors for timely maintenance.
  3. Documentation Handling
    • Manage all necessary documentation from dispatch to delivery, ensuring that it is correctly handled and returned to the distribution center.
  4. Responsibility for Goods and Roadworthiness
    • Take full accountability for the petroleum goods being transported, ensuring safe and accurate deliveries to customers.
    • Ensure the vehicle remains roadworthy throughout the trip, and take necessary actions if any problems arise during the journey.
  5. Work Conditions and Availability
    • Be prepared to work in a flexible schedule, including shifts, weekends, and public holidays, as per operational requirements.
  6. Compliance with Supervisor’s Instructions
    • Follow all reasonable instructions from supervisors and adhere to company policies and procedures.
