Job Description

Are you an experienced code 14 truck driver looking to take your career to the next level? S Hauliers is searching for qualified Code 14/EC drivers with extensive experience to join their growing team. If you’re skilled in navigating the demanding routes of Steelpoort and have worked in mining and industrial sectors, this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss.

We’re hosting a driver testing session in Steelpoort, and we’re calling on all qualified drivers to showcase their skills. Read on to find out more about this incredible opportunity and how to become part of a respected transport team.

When and Where?

The driver testing session will be held as follows:

Date: Tuesday, 22 October 2024

Time: 07:30 AM (Please ensure you arrive early. No latecomers will be tested after 09:00 AM.)

Venue: At the Old Ngululu Site (R555, next to Tubatse Ferrochrome, Steelpoort)

This is a fantastic chance for drivers who meet the requirements to demonstrate their skills and secure a promising career in abnormal load transportation.

What Do You Need to Qualify?

We’re looking for drivers who meet the following criteria:

Link Driving Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience driving link trucks is essential. This experience should include working with various cargo types, demonstrating competence in handling large, complex vehicles.

Side Tipper Experience: At least 1 year of experience driving side tippers is required. This skill is crucial for navigating the challenging terrain and performing smooth, efficient loading and offloading.

Valid Code 14 License (EC): A Code 14 license is necessary for operating the heavy-duty vehicles required for this role. Ensure your license is up to date and complies with national regulations.

Valid PrDP: Your Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) must have at least three months of validity remaining. This ensures you’re legally cleared to transport goods and passengers.

Passport: A valid passport is required for cross-border operations, giving you the flexibility to take on routes outside South Africa.

Steelpoort Mines Experience: Having prior experience driving in Steelpoort’s mines is a non-negotiable requirement. The terrain in and around the mining sites can be treacherous, so we need drivers who are already familiar with the area.

Durban Experience: Experience driving in Durban is crucial. The port city presents its own set of challenges, from heavy traffic to tight loading zones, making familiarity with the area a must.

Richards Bay (R/Bay) Experience: While not mandatory, experience driving in Richards Bay is an advantage. Familiarity with this region will help you stand out as a candidate with a broader range of driving expertise.

Clean Criminal Record: A clean criminal record is essential for employment. We place a high priority on safety and professionalism, so candidates must meet this criterion.

South African Citizens Only: This position is open exclusively to South African citizens.

Age Limit: Drivers should be under 55 years old to qualify for the role.

What to Expect During the Testing Session

At the testing session, we’ll assess your driving skills, experience, and knowledge of various vehicle types. You’ll be tested on your ability to handle abnormal loads, which require precision, concentration, and expertise.

Here’s a breakdown of the testing day:

Pre-Trip Inspections: You will need to demonstrate your ability to inspect the vehicle thoroughly before starting your trip. This includes checking the brakes, tyres, cargo, and overall vehicle safety.

On-Road Driving: Expect to drive through varied terrain, including highways and mining areas. Your handling of link trucks and side tippers will be evaluated, with particular attention to safety and efficiency.

Cargo Handling: You’ll be tested on your ability to load and offload cargo, particularly in challenging environments like those found in mines.
