Key Minimum Requirements

Driving Expertise:

A professional driving qualification is mandatory, with at least 6 years of driving experience.

Knowledge of National Road Traffic Act:

Familiarity with the National Road Traffic Act and audit procedures is essential for ensuring that drivers comply with road safety standards.

Additional Certifications:

Certifications in First Aid and Fire Fighting are advantageous but not mandatory.

Specialised Experience:

Experience with gas and cryogenics products and dangerous goods transportation is crucial.

Vehicle Operation:

You must have experience operating a Combination Vehicle and handling dangerous goods.

Soft Skills:

Strong conflict management, planning, motivational skills, flexibility, problem-solving, and time management abilities are required for effective driver training.

Computer Skills:

Competency in using computer systems for data entry, learner management, and report generation is essential.

Customer Relations:

You’ll need excellent customer relation skills to liaise with clients, addressing their requirements and concerns.

Duties & Responsibilities

As a Driver Trainer at Air Liquide KZN, your responsibilities will include a wide range of training and management tasks, ensuring that drivers are fully prepared and compliant with all operational and safety standards. Your main duties will be:

Training Schedule and Execution:

Develop and execute the training schedule for drivers at the contract level, aligning with the academy’s theory schedule. You will be responsible for ensuring that all drivers receive the necessary theoretical and practical training in a timely manner.

Driver Profile Management:

Collaborate with the Contract Manager to assess driver performance using various measurement tools. This will help you identify areas for improvement and recommend further training as needed.

Driver File Maintenance:

Maintain comprehensive driver files on the Learner Management System (LMS), ensuring that all records are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with company policies and audit requirements.

Data Management:

Accurately capture and input driver training data into the system, ensuring that training records are available for reference during audits and evaluations.

Coaching and Assessments:

Provide coaching to drivers to improve their skills and performance. Conduct pre-employment assessments for new drivers to ensure they meet the required standards before joining the team.

Audits and Customer Relations:

Participate in customer audits as needed, ensuring that all drivers are compliant with contract requirements. You’ll also liaise with customers to address their needs and ensure they are satisfied with driver performance and training standards.

Performance Monitoring:

Continuously monitor the performance of drivers and provide feedback, coaching, and retraining where necessary to ensure ongoing improvement and compliance with safety regulations.
