Key Responsibilities

As a Code 14 driver for Unitrans, you will be responsible for:

Vehicle Preparation and Operation

  • Ensuring that your ultra-heavy-duty vehicle is prepared for each trip, following strict inspection protocols. This includes verifying that the vehicle is in optimal condition before hitting the road.

Loading, Transporting, and Offloading

  • Safely loading and offloading goods, ensuring that all cargo is handled with care. You will be responsible for securing loads and managing transport in accordance with safety procedures to prevent accidents or damage.

Documentation and Ancillary Duties

  • Handling required documentation for each trip, including transport manifests and safety reports. Additionally, you’ll perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor, ensuring smooth operations.

Adherence to Safety and Operational Procedures

  • Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and all Unitrans safety policies. You will ensure that emergency procedures are adhered to and that defects are reported promptly.

Housekeeping and Maintenance

  • Maintaining your vehicle in excellent condition, adhering to a regular cleaning and inspection schedule. This includes keeping your uniform and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) clean and in good condition.

Shifts, Weekends, and Public Holidays

  • You must be prepared to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as part of a dedicated and flexible team. Unitrans values reliability and commitment, especially when meeting the demands of time-sensitive deliveries.

Minimum Requirements

  • To be considered for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

Education

  • A Grade 12/National Senior Certificate is required.

Licensing and Permits

  • You must hold a Code EC driver’s license (Code 14) with a valid PrDP (Professional Driving Permit). Your driving experience should include at least 3 years operating ultra-heavy vehicles, with specific experience handling Superlink or Interlink combinations.

Defensive Driving Techniques
