Position Overview:
A leading company in the logistics and transport industry is looking to hire a highly qualified Code 14 Driver based in Slurry, North West. This role is part of the Consumer Business Unit and involves driving ultra-heavy-duty vehicles for the transport of dry bulk materials, primarily cement. This is a permanent position with stable working hours, though the successful candidate must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Pre-trip Vehicle Preparation: Ensure the vehicle is in good working order before starting any trip. This includes checking for mechanical issues, conducting basic maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• Loading and Offloading: Safely load and offload goods, with a focus on efficiency and minimising damage. You will need to be skilled in handling dry bulk and cement deliveries.
• Transportation: Safely operate ultra-heavy-duty vehicles, including Superlink/Interlink combinations, adhering to road laws and ensuring the timely delivery of goods.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate delivery records, trip sheets, and any other required paperwork.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct regular vehicle inspections and report any defects or necessary repairs. You will also be responsible for ensuring that fire extinguishers are operational.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including defensive driving techniques, and adhere to all company and road safety regulations.
• Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organised vehicle and ensure that personal protective equipment (PPE) and uniforms are well-kept.
• Team Collaboration: Execute any reasonable instructions from supervisors and work closely with the dispatch and logistics teams to ensure smooth operations.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required:

• Grade 12 / National Certificate is a minimum requirement.
• A Code EC Driver’s License with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience driving ultra-heavy-duty vehicles, particularly Superlink/Interlink combinations.
• Prior experience in transporting dry bulk or cement is highly desirable.
• Must be proficient in defensive driving techniques and be familiar with procedures for emergency reporting and vehicle defect management.
• Strong understanding of vehicle cost-effectiveness and how to maximise vehicle efficiency.
• Experience in vehicle loading and offloading techniques.
• Own reliable transport to and from work.
• Medically fit to perform physically demanding tasks and operate large vehicles.
• Must have a clean criminal record.
