Position Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Code 10 Driver to join our team based in Pretoria, Gauteng. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving a rigid or articulated vehicle, with a gross weight not exceeding 16,000 kg, for the transport of goods and materials to various destinations. This permanent role is part of our RCL Milling division within the Consumer Business Unit and offers a stable work environment for an experienced driver.

Key Responsibilities:

• Pre-Trip Vehicle Preparation: Conduct vehicle checks before each trip, ensuring that it is roadworthy and fully equipped for the journey.
• Driving and Transport: Safely operate a heavy-duty vehicle to transport goods between locations, adhering to all traffic laws and company safety protocols.
• Vehicle Inspections: Perform thorough vehicle inspections before and after each trip, reporting any issues or defects that need attention.
• Documentation Management: Handle all necessary paperwork, including delivery notes, trip logs, and customer receipts, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and returned to the distribution centre.
• Goods Accountability: Be responsible for the safe transport and delivery of goods, ensuring that all items are accounted for upon arrival at the destination.
• Vehicle Roadworthiness: Take full responsibility for the vehicle’s roadworthiness when leaving the depot, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• Adherence to Shifts: Be prepared to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as required by the business.
• Supervisory Instructions: Follow any reasonable instructions from your supervisor and maintain a strong focus on safe driving practices.
• Housekeeping: Maintain the cleanliness and good condition of the vehicle throughout your shifts.

Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

• Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• A valid Code 10 Driver’s License with a Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
• PrDP “D” is required for the operation of dangerous goods; a Code 14 License will be considered advantageous.
• At least 3 years of experience in heavy motor vehicle driving, with a solid track record of safety and reliability.
• Ability to conduct basic vehicle inspections and ensure the roadworthiness of the vehicle before starting any trip.
• A clean criminal record is essential.
