Position Summary
The Driver Salesman is a crucial link between PepsiCo and our customers. In this role, you will be responsible for the timely delivery of bread products, excellent management of sales routes, and exceptional customer service. Reporting to the Distribution Manager, you will work closely with the sales team to identify and pursue growth opportunities in the local market. This role requires a reliable and service-oriented individual who is comfortable managing cash, maintaining delivery records, and optimizing delivery processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Timely Product Delivery
- Ensure prompt and accurate delivery of bread products to our customers across your assigned route.
- Adhere to delivery schedules and comply with company procedures to meet customer expectations.
- Cash Handling and Reconciliation
- Manage route finances responsibly, including collection, safe handling, and reconciliation of cash.
- Balance delivery books and reconcile daily transactions according to PepsiCo’s financial procedures.
- Customer Service Excellence
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers by providing professional and friendly service.
- Engage with customers to understand their needs and communicate any relevant feedback to the sales team.
- Sales and Market Opportunities
- Identify and explore potential growth opportunities within your delivery route, assisting in sales expansion.
- Work closely with the Sales Representatives to improve PepsiCo’s footprint and address any customer needs.
- Route Accountability and Management
- Take ownership of your route, ensuring product availability, minimizing shortages, and optimizing delivery efficiency.
- Maintain strong communication with Sales Representatives to stay updated on promotions, stock changes, and customer feedback.
- Crate and Stock Control
- Handle all product crates with care, ensuring the safe delivery of products and efficient crate management.
- Keep accurate records of stock levels and prevent product losses or damages during transportation.
Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Educational Background: Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent NQF Level 3 qualification.
- Driver’s License: Valid Code 10 driver’s license with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- Numeracy Skills: Strong basic Mathematics skills to handle cash reconciliation and financial transactions.
- Language Proficiency: Proficient in at least two official South African languages, including English.
- Customer Service: Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service and communicate effectively with clients.
- Attention to Detail: Capable of managing and reconciling financial transactions accurately, as well as maintaining organized delivery records.
