Position Overview
Rainbow Rustenburg is looking for an experienced and reliable Code 14 Driver to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for operating and managing ultra-heavy vehicles, particularly focusing on long-haul and large-capacity transportation.
As a key member of our logistics team, you’ll be expected to ensure safe, efficient, and timely delivery of goods to various destinations while adhering to all safety regulations and company protocols.
This role is ideal for a highly skilled driver who is comfortable with long-haul trips, knowledgeable in load management, and has a strong commitment to maintaining a safe driving record.

Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or National Certificate.
- License & Certifications:
- Code EC (Code 14) driver’s license with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience driving ultra-heavy vehicles, with a specific focus on Superlink, Interlink, or combination vehicles.
- Proficient in loading and offloading techniques specific to large-capacity vehicles.
- Key Skills and Attributes:
- Strong knowledge of defensive driving techniques and emergency response procedures.
- Familiarity with vehicle inspections and basic fire extinguisher operation.
- Demonstrated ability to maximize vehicle efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Ability to follow and complete detailed reporting on vehicle conditions, emergencies, and defects.
- Physical fitness to manage the physical demands of the role and successfully pass a medical evaluation.
- Clean criminal record and commitment to safe driving practices.
- Reliable means of transport to and from the workplace.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
As an Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
1. Vehicle Preparation and Operation
- Pre-Trip Inspections: Conduct thorough checks on the vehicle prior to each journey, ensuring all safety and operational standards are met.
- Trip Management: Safely operate ultra-heavy-duty vehicles on assigned routes, adhering to road safety regulations and company protocols.
- Efficient Driving: Utilize defensive driving skills to minimize risks and optimize fuel consumption, contributing to overall vehicle cost-efficiency.
2. Loading, Transportation, and Offloading
- Cargo Management: Oversee the secure loading and unloading of cargo, ensuring that all items are handled with care to prevent damage.
- Documentation: Accurately complete and manage delivery documentation, including any required load verification or consignment notes.
- Route Optimization: Plan and follow the most efficient route to ensure timely deliveries while minimizing unnecessary mileage.
3. Safety and Compliance
- Safety Procedures: Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines during loading, driving, and unloading activities.
- Emergency Preparedness: Be prepared to respond effectively to emergencies by following company procedures and using safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers.
- Training and Evaluations: Successfully complete mandatory training modules, including USCS training, and undergo periodic driving and safety evaluations.
4. Reporting and Record-Keeping
- Defect Reporting: Promptly report any vehicle defects or malfunctions to your supervisor, ensuring that necessary repairs or adjustments are made before further use.
- Accurate Documentation: Maintain up-to-date records on vehicle inspections, trip reports, and fuel usage, contributing to effective fleet management.
- Feedback Loop: Communicate any operational issues or suggestions for improvement to your supervisor to enhance overall efficiency and safety.
5. Maintenance and Housekeeping
- Vehicle Cleanliness: Keep the assigned vehicle clean and in good condition, both inside and out, to ensure a professional appearance and promote a safe working environment.
- PPE and Uniform Compliance: Wear the designated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and uniform at all times, ensuring that you represent the company with professionalism.
- Housekeeping Duties: Assist in maintaining cleanliness and order within the depot, supporting a safe and organized workspace.
Additional Requirements and Expectations
Candidates will also be required to:
- Flexibility: Be willing to work on weekends and public holidays as required by the nature of the role.
- Medical Fitness: Pass a thorough medical evaluation to confirm physical suitability for long-haul driving and handling heavy loads.
- Induction and Training Completion: Complete all induction processes and practical training as required by Rainbow Rustenburg, including practical driving evaluations and health and safety protocols.
- Clean Criminal Record: Maintain a clean criminal record and driving history, reflecting our commitment to safe and ethical practices.
