Position Overview

A permanent role is open for a dedicated and skilled Code 14 Driver within our Consumer division, based in Pretoria, Gauteng. This position is crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of goods to various clients across South Africa.

Key Responsibilities

As a Code 14 Driver, your role will encompass the following critical tasks:

  1. Vehicle Preparation and Trip Management
    • Prepare the vehicle for each trip by conducting a thorough inspection and ensuring all systems function optimally.
    • Execute loading and offloading procedures, keeping safety and vehicle integrity in mind at all times.
    • Oversee the securing of loads to ensure compliance with the National Road Traffic Act, ensuring every journey starts with safety as the top priority.
    • Conduct all necessary pre-trip vehicle inspections to maintain compliance and prevent breakdowns on the road.
  2. Documentation and Ancillary Duties
    • Handle all necessary documentation for the transport of goods, accurately completing records and handling paperwork to support efficient logistical operations.
    • Maintain a professional attitude and uphold company standards when interacting with clients, making sure all deliveries are executed with a focus on customer satisfaction.
    • Report any emergencies or vehicle defects promptly, ensuring that maintenance and repairs are managed swiftly.
  3. Safe and Defensive Driving
    • Utilize defensive driving techniques to maximize safety for yourself, other road users, and the goods in transit.
    • Adhere to all road regulations, including speed limits and rest intervals, and maintain a spotless driving record.
    • Operate ultra-heavy vehicles with precision, making sure all driving maneuvers are executed with care.
  4. Load Management
    • Ensure vehicles are not overloaded, in line with legal weight restrictions.
    • Implement effective loading techniques that optimize space and maintain vehicle balance, guaranteeing safety and efficiency on the road.
    • Oversee the loading and unloading processes, either by operating offloading equipment or supervising the team responsible, ensuring all goods are handled correctly and reach their destination intact.
  5. Safety and Compliance
    • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the company’s rigorous safety guidelines, prioritizing the safety of all personnel and the protection of goods.
    • Complete any necessary safety training modules, including medical evaluations, induction processes, and practical driving evaluations.
    • Conduct vehicle housekeeping to uphold a clean and safe working environment, ensuring uniforms and PPE are always in good condition.
  6. Client Interaction
    • Engage with clients professionally and efficiently, representing the company positively and ensuring customer satisfaction through reliable and courteous service.
    • Communicate effectively with clients, providing updates on delivery status and resolving any queries promptly.
