Unitrans is on the lookout for experienced Professional Bus Drivers to join their esteemed team in Secunda. This role is integral to maintaining reliable, safe, and punctual transport services for our valued passengers, ensuring compliance with company policies and all relevant traffic laws.

Job Overview

As a Bus Driver, you will operate scheduled services along predetermined routes, ensuring passengers reach their destinations safely and on time. Your role is vital in upholding the organisation’s reputation for exceptional service and safety. Equipped with a valid driver’s licence and a PrDP, you will be expected to master defensive driving techniques, comply with company regulations, and maintain high safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Passenger Transport and Safety

• Operate buses on scheduled routes, ensuring safe and timely passenger transportation.
• Manage lighting, heating, and ventilation systems to enhance passenger comfort.
• Strictly adhere to traffic laws, ensuring the safety of passengers, pedestrians, and other road users.
• Ensure all passengers are registered for trips and provide excellent customer service throughout the journey.

Compliance and Reporting

• Read and adhere to the company’s code of conduct, policies, and procedures.
• Report near-misses, incidents, and property damage to management promptly.
• Maintain accurate logbooks and keep updated records of driving hours, events, and incidents.

Vehicle Inspections and Maintenance

• Conduct thorough inspections of the bus before every trip, ensuring it meets safety and operational standards.
• Record and report any deviations or malfunctions to your supervisor.
• Oversee the refueling and cleanliness of the vehicle, ensuring it is always in pristine condition.

Adherence to Regulations

• Follow established Unitrans passenger rules and regulations.
• Respect traffic signage, speed limits, and authorized stop locations.
• Participate in regular safety training and development sessions to stay updated on best practices.

Route and Journey Management

• Stick to designated routes unless otherwise instructed by a supervisor.
• Avoid unauthorized stops and route deviations.
• Ensure compliance with job card collection times and customer service standards.
