An exciting opportunity has become available for a highly skilled Code 14 Driver to join our team at Distell Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient distribution of goods to various clients, ensuring compliance with all safety and operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Vehicle Operation: Prepare vehicles for trips and operate ultra-heavy-duty vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Loading and Offloading: Load, transport, and offload goods while ensuring accuracy and safety. Oversee or operate offloading equipment as required.
• Documentation: Handle all required documentation related to trips, deliveries, and vehicle inspections.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to and promote standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols. Ensure loads are secured and vehicles are not overloaded as per the National Road Traffic Act.
• Customer Interaction: Deal with customers in a professional and efficient manner, maintaining a high standard of service.

• Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, report defects, and ensure vehicles are in optimal condition.
• Housekeeping: Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of vehicles, uniforms, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Team Collaboration: Follow all reasonable instructions from supervisors and work collaboratively to achieve operational goals.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: Grade 12 / Matric / Senior Certificate.
• Literacy: Verbally and numerically literate (Grade 10 level).
• Licensing:
  • Valid Code EC driver’s license with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) for Dangerous Goods (DGP).
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience driving ultra-heavy vehicles.

• Age Requirement: Must be 25 years of age or above.
• Availability: Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
• Skills:
  • Defensive driving techniques.
  • Knowledge of vehicle components and their functions.
  • Ability to maximize vehicle cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Proficiency in vehicle loading techniques.
• Other Requirements:
  • Clean criminal record.
  • Medically fit to perform the duties of the role.

Training and Evaluation:
The successful candidate will be required to successfully complete the following:

• Medical evaluation.
• USCS training modules.
• Induction processes.
• Practical driving evaluation.
• Verification of a clean criminal record.
