Job Overview
Unitran is seeking a skilled and experienced Code 14 Driver to join our team for Lucerne Transport Contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting bulk chemicals using semi-trailer and double combination tanker trucks.
This role requires a high level of safety awareness, compliance with transport regulations, and the ability to operate heavy-duty vehicles efficiently under different road and weather conditions.

Minimum Requirements
- Education: Minimum Grade 10 or equivalent literacy level
- License & Permits: Code 14 driver’s license with a valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) – EC1
- Experience: At least five years of experience in bulk chemical transport, including driving semi-trailers and double combination (semi + pub) tankers
- Cross-border & Long-Distance: Experience with long-haul and cross-border operations
- Health & Safety: Medically fit with a clean criminal record
- Driving Skills:
- Proficient in operating Eaton Fuller and ZF gearboxes
- Strong understanding of vehicle components, loading techniques, and fire extinguisher operation
- Knowledge of the Road Traffic Act and best practices for defensive driving
- Ability to adapt to different road, traffic, and weather conditions
- Emergency & Reporting Procedures: Ability to respond effectively to vehicle defects and road emergencies
Key Responsibilities
- Trip Preparation: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance
- Vehicle Operation: Drive and manage ultra-heavy-duty vehicles for the safe and timely delivery of bulk chemicals
- Documentation Handling: Maintain accurate records from dispatch to delivery and return to the distribution center
- Compliance & Safety: Adhere to all road safety regulations and company policies regarding hazardous material transportation
- Load Management: Apply proper vehicle loading techniques to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Reporting & Communication: Report any defects, emergencies, or incidents as per company protocols
- Work Schedule: Be prepared to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required by operational demands
