Job Overview

RCL Foods is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to join their team in Polokwane, Limpopo.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for fleet maintenance, breakdown repairs, and preventative servicing of delivery vehicles, ensuring they meet safety and operational standards. The role includes mechanical repairs, diagnostics, and team supervision while ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Minimum Requirements

✅ Education & Certification Requirements

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Valid C1 Driver’s License & PDP
• N3 National Certificate as Diesel Mechanic

✅ Experience & Skills

• 4-5 years’ experience as a qualified Diesel Mechanic in a workshop environment
• At least 1 year of supervisory experience
• Experience with Toyota and Isuzu Trucks
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance schedules
• Basic auto electrical repair skills

✅ Additional Requirements

• Ability to work after hours for breakdowns
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Good team management and communication skills

Key Responsibilities

🔧 Fleet Maintenance & Repairs

• Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing per manufacturer specifications
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on delivery vehicles
• Attend to after-hours breakdowns when required
• Carry out auto electrical repairs
• Prepare vehicles for annual Certificate of Fitness (COF)

• Ensure mechanical tasks are completed according to job card specifications
• Maintain cost-effective utilization of parts (new & used)
• Evaluate services rendered by external suppliers to ensure quality work
• Analyze fleet fuel consumption data and take corrective action

👥 Team Management & Supervision

• Ensure team members are available for assigned tasks
• Monitor and record team time sheets
• Foster good working relationships within the workshop
• Manage performance of mechanical assistants and address any issues
• Enforce company disciplinary code and workplace policies
• Promote and uphold the company’s safety regulations and procedures

📊 Performance & Compliance

• Conduct diagnostic tests and inspections to determine vehicle condition
• Perform overhauls and major component replacements
• Ensure vehicle performance through test drives and adjustments
• Maintain detailed service and repair records
• Troubleshoot shop equipment breakdowns and maintain supplies
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
• Continuously improve workshop efficiency and service quality
