🔍 Job Overview

Midvaal Local Municipality is seeking a dedicated and experienced Truck Driver to join the Waste Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting waste between landfill sites and transfer stations, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.

✅ Minimum Requirements

• Grade 10 (Matric / Grade 12 is advantageous)
• Valid Code C1 (10) Driver’s Licence with Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
• Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience within a Local Government Authority
• Physically fit, adaptable, and hardworking
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Must be self-disciplined and reliable
• Knowledge of traffic regulations and health & safety standards

🧰 Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate municipal trucks for the collection, loading, and off-loading of waste
• Follow planned daily task routes from supervisors or work orders
• Ensure waste is properly contained, covered, and transported only to authorised facilities
• Prevent spillage and adhere to national road safety laws
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report mechanical issues
• Maintain accurate administrative records (waste volumes, mileage, fuel logs, incidents)
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and the public
• Perform other ad hoc duties when not driving to assist the wider team
