🔍 Job Overview

Midvaal Local Municipality is hiring a skilled and responsible Truck Driver (Code EC) to operate skip trucks, tippers, and compactors within the Waste Management and Sanitation Division. This is a permanent municipal post offering stable employment and benefits.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe transport of municipal waste and materials, vehicle maintenance, and compliance with health and safety regulations.

✅ Minimum Requirements

• Grade 10 (Matric / Grade 12 is an added advantage)

• Valid Code EC (Code 14) Driver’s Licence with Public Driving Permit (PDP)

• Minimum 2 years’ experience within a Local Government Authority

• Physically fit and disciplined with strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to follow strict route, safety, and maintenance protocols

🧰 Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate skip, tipper, and compactor trucks for collection and transport

• Load/off-load materials in accordance with instructions and schedules

• Keep trucks clean and roadworthy; conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections

• Adhere to route plans issued by Foreman/Supervisor

• Monitor and report on spillage, safety, and loading issues

• Log kilometres, fuel consumption, and work hours

• Report all mechanical issues and coordinate with Fleet Coordinator for repairs

• Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, vehicle condition, and route logs

• Adhere to all municipal traffic laws, PPE use, and safety protocols

• Assist with other duties when not engaged in driving tasks
