💼 Job Overview

Air Products South Africa, a leader in the manufacturing and supply of industrial and specialty gases, is looking for a dependable and safety-conscious Driver Assistant to join their Packaged Gases team in Kempton Park.

The ideal candidate will support our drivers and distribution operations by ensuring full compliance with road safety, Dangerous Goods legislation, and vehicle readiness. If you’re physically fit, attentive to detail, and eager to work in a regulated and safety-driven environment, this role is for you.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily and scheduled fleet inspections to ensure vehicle safety and roadworthiness

• Ensure all trucks are compliant with Dangerous Goods regulations, including proper placement of placards

• Assist with fleet maintenance and ensure licensing, COFs, and fire permits are up to date

• Keep the vehicle interior and exterior clean, organised and safe

• Accurately maintain servicing and repair records for all fleet vehicles

• Uphold strict safety and quality standards during all activities

• Deliver excellent customer service while supporting transport operations

• Act as a support to the driver during deliveries, load securing, and offloading of gas cylinders

📋 Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)

• Valid, unendorsed Code EC driver’s licence with a valid PrDP (PrDPd)

• Dangerous Goods Certificate is essential

• 3–5 years’ experience operating heavy-duty vehicles

• Experience in handling or transporting hazardous materials/gases is highly advantageous

• Mechanically minded with a good understanding of vehicle maintenance

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

• Strong verbal and written English communication skills

• Must be physically fit and able to manage manual tasks safely
