🔍 Job Summary

Unitrans, a leading logistics and transport services company, is seeking high-calibre Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicle Drivers to join their Consumer division under the XIN Operations Linehaul contract based in Tulisa Park.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods to multiple clients across South Africa, ensuring compliance with company policies, road regulations, and high standards of customer service.


Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Senior Certificate (Matric preferred; Grade 10 literacy level accepted)

  • Code EC (Code 14) Driver’s License with a valid PrDP (DGP)

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience operating ultra-heavy commercial vehicles

  • Experience driving a manual gear FAW truck

  • Defensive driving certification (preferred)

  • Must be 25 years or older

  • Willingness to work weekends, public holidays, and shifts

  • Clean driving and criminal record

  • Physically fit and medically cleared (medical evaluation required)


🛠️ Duties and Responsibilities

  • Pre-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and legal compliance

  • Safely operate ultra-heavy vehicles to transport goods to designated client sites

  • Load and offload goods using appropriate lifting equipment or assistive oversight

  • Complete all required delivery documentation, checklists, and waybills

  • Secure loads properly, manage tarpaulins, and ensure the vehicle is not overloaded

  • Adhere to all traffic regulations, SOPs, and unit-specific safety protocols

  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness, uniform, and PPE compliance

  • Follow proper procedures for emergency reporting, fire extinguisher use, and defect reporting

  • Participate in induction, practical driving evaluations, and ongoing training

  • Provide excellent service to clients by delivering loads timeously and courteously

  • Assist with general housekeeping and ensure proper handling of goods

  • Rotate shifts and be available for overtime as required

📌 Additional Information

The position is based at the Tulisa Park depot, with long-distance route deliveries forming part of the Linehaul operation. The driver will undergo the following prior to appointment:

  • Medical evaluation

  • Criminal background check

  • Practical driving test

  • Unitrans-specific training (USCS)
