Technical Driver Trainer Vacancy in Port Elizabeth

SafetySA is seeking an experienced and qualified Technical Driver Trainer to join its team in Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering accredited driver training programmes that improve driving competence, promote road safety, and reduce transport-related risks in the workplace.

Purpose of the Role

The Driver Trainer will deliver both theoretical and practical driver training across relevant vehicle categories while ensuring full compliance with SAQA, SETA, QCTO, and internal quality standards.

The role focuses on developing skilled, safety-conscious drivers through structured learning, assessment, and coaching.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent qualification.
  • Valid South African Driver’s Licence (relevant vehicle categories).
  • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) where applicable.
  • Accredited Driver Trainer / Facilitator qualification.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ professional driving experience.
  • 2–3 years’ experience in driver training or facilitation.
  • Experience in accredited training environments and assessment processes.
  • Exposure to diverse learner groups.

Advantageous Qualifications

  • Assessor registration.
  • Moderator registration.
  • Defensive driving certification.
  • First Aid certification.

Key Responsibilities

Driver Training and Facilitation

  • Deliver theoretical and practical driver training programmes.
  • Adapt training methods to suit different learning styles and language abilities.
  • Provide clear instructions, coaching, and learner support.
  • Promote safe driving behaviour and road safety awareness.

Assessment and Compliance

  • Conduct pre- and post-training assessments.
  • Compile and maintain Portfolios of Evidence (POEs).
  • Ensure compliance with SAQA, SETA, QCTO, and internal quality standards.
  • Support audits, verification processes, and accreditation requirements.

Administration and Reporting

  • Complete all training documentation accurately and on time.
  • Maintain training records and learner progress reports.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of training vehicles and equipment.

Professional Standards

  • Represent the company professionally at all times.
  • Uphold safety, confidentiality, and quality standards.
  • Promote additional training solutions where appropriate.
