Professional Bus Driver Vacancies Available
Unitrans is currently recruiting experienced and safety-conscious Bus Drivers to join its Bapotrans passenger transport operation in the North West Province. The successful candidates will be responsible for transporting passengers safely and efficiently along designated routes while complying with company procedures, road traffic regulations, and passenger safety standards.
This position is ideal for professional drivers with extensive passenger transport experience and a commitment to delivering excellent service.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) qualification.
- Relevant job-specific driver training.
- Valid driver’s licence with the required passenger transport endorsements.
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
- Public Services Driving Licence (PG).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar passenger transport role.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and traffic laws.
- Ability to work independently and maintain high safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Passenger Transportation
- Transport passengers safely on scheduled routes.
- Ensure passengers arrive at their destinations on time.
- Register passengers before departure when required.
- Maintain a professional and customer-friendly attitude at all times.
Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to all road traffic laws and company safety procedures.
- Apply defensive and preventative driving techniques.
- Report all incidents, accidents, near misses, and property damage immediately.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, transport, and environmental regulations.
- Follow customer-specific safety management policies and procedures.
Vehicle Inspections and Maintenance
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections before commencing duties.
- Identify and report defects, malfunctions, or safety concerns.
- Ensure buses are clean, fuelled, and roadworthy at all times.
- Record all defects and maintenance requirements accurately.
Documentation and Reporting
- Complete logbooks and trip documentation correctly.
- Maintain accurate records of driving hours and daily activities.
- Report operational incidents and route-related issues to supervisors.
- Ensure all required transport records are up to date.
Route and Operational Management
- Follow approved routes and schedules.
- Avoid unauthorised route deviations.
- Stop only at authorised locations unless otherwise instructed.
- Adhere to speed limits and road signage.
- Comply with passenger collection and drop-off schedules.
Vehicle Care and Security
- Ensure the safe use and protection of company vehicles.
- Remove ignition keys and secure vehicles when parked.
- Use wheel chocks where required.
- Report vehicle damage immediately.
- Promote responsible vehicle operation and maintenance.
