About the Role

The Western Cape Blood Service (WCBS) is seeking a dedicated and customer-focused individual to join its George Regional Branch as a Donor Attendant Driver. This role combines driving responsibilities with donor support duties, ensuring that blood donation clinics operate efficiently while providing excellent service to donors.

The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting staff and clinic equipment, setting up donation venues, assisting donors throughout the donation process, and maintaining a positive donor experience.

Key Responsibilities

The Donor Attendant Driver will be responsible for:

  • Safely transporting staff and clinic equipment to and from blood donation venues.
  • Loading, unloading, and moving clinic equipment.
  • Setting up and dismantling blood donation clinics.
  • Welcoming and assisting blood donors.
  • Preparing donors for the donation process.
  • Monitoring donors during donations and responding to adverse reactions when necessary.
  • Completing donor registration and linking procedures.
  • Ensuring the smooth flow and operation of blood donor clinics.
  • Delivering excellent customer service and maintaining positive relationships with donors and the public.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Matric Certificate (Grade 12).
  • Valid Code EC driver’s licence with no endorsements.
  • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ driving experience.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Physically fit and able to lift and move heavy clinic equipment.
  • Willingness to work variable shifts, weekends, and after-hours call-outs when required.

Advantageous Qualification

  • First Aid Certification.
