Job Overview

Unitrans is recruiting experienced Professional Bus Drivers to join its Mega Bus operations in Rustenburg. The successful candidates will safely transport passengers along scheduled routes while ensuring excellent customer service, strict compliance with road traffic legislation, and adherence to company safety standards.

The role requires a professional driver with extensive passenger transport experience, defensive driving skills, and a valid Professional Driving Permit.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely transport passengers on scheduled routes while maintaining punctual service.
• Perform daily pre-trip inspections and report vehicle defects before commencing a journey.
• Complete vehicle inspection checklists and logbooks accurately.
• Ensure buses are clean, roadworthy, and adequately fuelled.
• Register passengers and maintain accurate trip records.
• Follow approved routes and authorised stopping points.
• Comply with all road traffic laws, speed limits, and company operating procedures.
• Report incidents, accidents, near misses, vehicle damage, and safety concerns immediately.
• Participate in driver safety meetings, training sessions, and DSS programmes.
• Follow Health, Safety and Transport (HST) regulations and company policies.
• Ensure passengers wear seat belts where applicable and promote safe travel practices.
• Remove vehicle keys after parking and secure the vehicle according to company procedures.
• Use wheel chocks after parking where required.
• Maintain professional conduct and provide excellent customer service.
• Report vehicle damage or maintenance requirements to supervisors.
• Complete all assigned transport duties safely and efficiently.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric) or National Certificate.
• Relevant job-specific driver training.
• Valid Code EC (Code 14) or Code C driver’s licence.
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) for passenger transport (PG).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar passenger transport role.
• Strong knowledge of defensive and preventive driving techniques.
• Good understanding of South African road traffic legislation.
• Ability to work safely under operational schedules.
