About the opportunity

Unitrans is seeking an experienced Petroleum Tanker Driver to join its Petroleum division at Engen Langlaagte.

The successful candidate will operate ultra-heavy vehicles with a gross vehicle mass or gross combination mass exceeding 25 000 kg, ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of petroleum products to customers.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric / NQF Level 4, or Grade 10 / NQF Level 2.
• Valid Code EC driver’s licence.
• Valid PrDP – Dangerous Goods (D), required for operating a dangerous goods vehicle.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a petroleum driver.
• Safe driving record.
• Clean criminal record.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicles for trips and ensure they are ready for safe operation.
• Operate ultra-heavy-duty vehicles.
• Conduct vehicle inspections before and after each trip.
• Handle documentation from dispatch to the customer and back to the distribution centre.
• Take full responsibility for the roadworthiness of the vehicle when leaving the depot.
• Account for all goods transported to customers.
• Work shifts, weekends and public holidays when required.
• Follow all reasonable instructions from the supervisor.
• Comply with company safety procedures and applicable road traffic regulations.
