Job Overview

The City of Tshwane is inviting applications for a Lorry Driver position within its Energy and Electricity Business Unit, under the Distribution Operations and Maintenance Division.

The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting personnel, materials and equipment to operational sites to support street lighting and electricity distribution operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out instructions received from the supervisor.
• Transport and deliver tools, materials and equipment to operational sites to ensure uninterrupted operations.
• Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 (Act 85 of 1993).
• Perform duties on a rotational basis across different operational teams to develop and support multi-skilling.
• Ensure the efficient and cost-effective use of available resources.
• Assist operational teams with transport-related requirements as needed.

Minimum Appointment Requirements

• Grade 10.
• At least 6 months’ relevant driving experience.
• Valid Code EC or Code C1 driving licence.
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
• Physically fit and in good health.
• Willingness and ability to relieve employees in similar positions when required.
• Willingness and ability to work shifts, overtime and standby duties.

Personal Attributes and Competencies

• Good technical skills.
• Willingness to accept responsibility.
• Ability to undertake extensive travelling.
• Excellent eyesight.
• Good physical fitness.

Important Conditions of Employment
