Job Overview

Air Products South Africa is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced Bulk Drivers to join its operations in Vanderbijlpark.

The successful candidates will be responsible for delivering cryogenic bulk liquid products to various customer sites using specialised bulk cryogenic gas tankers. The role requires extensive articulated tanker driving experience, strict adherence to safety procedures and the ability to manage loading, offloading and delivery documentation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Vehicle Operation and Inspections

• Operate bulk cryogenic gas tankers when delivering products to customer sites.
• Conduct pre-journey and post-journey vehicle inspections.
• Assess and report on the roadworthiness and fitness of vehicles.
• Maintain the truck in a clean and presentable condition.

2. Loading and Offloading

• Perform loading and offloading activities involving cryogenic bulk liquid tankers.
• Follow the correct procedures when handling and transporting bulk products.
• Ensure that all operations are conducted safely and according to company standards.

3. Delivery and Administration

• Deliver cryogenic bulk liquid products to various Air Products customers.
• Complete trip sheets and all required delivery documentation accurately.
• Carry out duties in accordance with company processes and procedures.
• Perform general and ad hoc duties as required.

4. Safety and Compliance

• Maintain high safety standards throughout all driving, loading and offloading activities.
• Comply with company safety procedures and operational requirements.
• Ensure that the vehicle is properly inspected and maintained.
• Complete written reports relating to vehicle fitness when required.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Valid, unendorsed Code EC driving licence.
• Valid Dangerous Goods Certificate.
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
• Own reliable transport.
• Clear criminal record.
• At least 5 years of continuous articulated tanker driving experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
• Ability to prepare written reports on vehicle fitness.
• Must meet Air Products’ annual medical requirements.

Advantageous Requirements

• At least 5 years of cryogenic gas driving experience.

Assessments and Selection Requirements

Shortlisted candidates must:

• Achieve an A/B rating in psychomotor testing.
• Pass Air Products’ internal written and practical assessments.
• Meet the company’s annual medical fitness requirements.

Working Conditions

• Must be willing to work according to a roster system.
• Availability to work weekends and public holidays.
• Willingness to work overtime when required.
