We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified Dangerous Goods Tanker Driver to join our dynamic team in Clairwood, KwaZulu-Natal. This role involves preparing vehicles for trips, operating heavy-duty vehicles, and ensuring the safe and efficient transport of bulk chemicals. Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Grade 10 Literacy level.
• Licenses: A valid Code 14 driver’s license and a valid PrDP (EC1).
• Experience: At least 5 years of articulated driving experience in Bulk Chemical Transport, including driving semi-trailers and double combination (semi + pub) tankers.
• Skills:
  • Long-distance and cross-border driving experience.
  • Proficiency in operating Eaton Fuller and ZF gearboxes.
  • Knowledge of vehicle components, their functions, and locations.
  • Understanding of the Road Traffic Act and its application to vehicle operation.
  • Ability to adapt driving techniques to weather, road, and traffic conditions.
  • Familiarity with emergency and defect reporting procedures.
  • Competence in vehicle inspections and fire extinguisher operation.
  • Expertise in maximizing vehicle cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Knowledge of vehicle loading techniques.

• Other Requirements:
  • Medically fit.
  • Clean criminal record.
  • Defensive driving skills.

Duties & Responsibilities

As an Ultra-Heavy Motor Vehicle Driver, your responsibilities will include:

1. Vehicle Preparation: Ensuring vehicles are thoroughly inspected and prepared for trips, including checking fuel, oil, and other essential components.
2. Safe Operation: Operating heavy-duty vehicles with precision and care, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
3. Documentation Management: Handling all necessary documentation from dispatch to delivery and ensuring accurate records are maintained.

• Shift Work: Being prepared to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
• Vehicle Inspections: Conducting pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicles are in optimal condition.
• Cargo Accountability: Ensuring all goods transported are accounted for and delivered safely to customers.
• Compliance: Following all reasonable instructions from supervisors and adhering to company protocols.
• Safety Record: Maintaining a safe driving record and upholding a clean criminal record.
