Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Education and Licensing

• Grade 12 Certificate (National Certificate).
• A valid Code EC driver’s license with a current Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).

Experience

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience driving ultra-heavy vehicles.
• At least 3 years of experience operating Superlink/Interlink or combination vehicles.

Skills and Knowledge

• Proficiency in defensive driving techniques.
• Familiarity with emergency and defect reporting procedures.
• Competence in vehicle inspections and the proper use of a fire extinguisher.
• Knowledge of vehicle loading and offloading techniques.
• Ability to maximize vehicle cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency.

Other Requirements

• Must be willing to work weekends, public holidays, and shifts.
• Must have own reliable transport to and from work.
• Must have a clean criminal record.
• Must be medically fit to perform job duties.

Key Responsibilities

As a Code 14 Driver, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of goods. Your duties will include:

1. Vehicle Preparation and Operation
   • Preparing the vehicle for trips and operating ultra-heavy-duty vehicles safely and efficiently.
2. Transport and Delivery
   • Loading, transporting, and offloading goods to ensure timely delivery.
   • Handling all required documentation for deliveries and returns.
3. Safety and Compliance
   • Performing regular vehicle inspections and adhering to safety procedures.
   • Ensuring the vehicle, uniform, and PPE are maintained to a high standard.
   • Complying with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and promoting a culture of safety.
4. Team Collaboration and Ancillary Duties
   • Performing ancillary duties as assigned by the supervisor.
   • Collaborating effectively with team members to ensure seamless operations.
5. Training and Evaluation
   • Successfully completing required training, including:
     • Medical evaluations.
     • USCS training modules.
     • Induction processes.
     • Practical driving evaluations.
