Purpose of the Job:
To oversee and manage the efficient allocation, scheduling, and routing of vehicles while ensuring compliance with company and client requirements. The Fleet Controller will play a critical role in optimizing fleet utilization, reducing transportation costs, and improving client service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Allocate, schedule, and route vehicles cost-effectively and efficiently to meet client service requirements.
- Maintain consistent communication with drivers throughout their shifts, proactively monitoring loading and off-loading processes.
- Ensure accurate and timely administrative operations, including managing Proof of Delivery (PODs) and other driver documentation.
- Optimize fleet utilization and organize client deliveries to reduce transportation costs and improve service levels.
- Plan, monitor, and communicate trips in compliance with company and customer policies.
- Ensure drivers and vehicles are available, compliant, and well-maintained.
- Coordinate with drivers and loading areas to ensure smooth operations.
- Handle transportation incidents, including client complaints, product losses, and accidents.
- Participate in On-Board Computer (OBC) monitoring and reporting.
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric or equivalent qualification.
- Qualification in Logistics (advantageous).
- 2-3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably with fuel tanker experience.
- Sound knowledge of fleet routing, administration, product lines, and container types.
- Geographical knowledge (national and cross-border).
- Computer literacy and proficiency in fleet management software.
- Willingness to work shifts.
- Reliable, assertive, proactive, and able to take initiative.
