Job Description

Unitrans is looking for an experienced Petroleum Tanker Driver to operate ultra-heavy-duty vehicles with a gross vehicle mass or gross combination mass exceeding 25 000 kg.

The successful candidate will be responsible for safely transporting petroleum products, ensuring that the vehicle is roadworthy, completing inspections and managing the required delivery documentation.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

• Grade 12 / Matric / NQF Level 4 or Grade 10 / NQF Level 2.
• A valid Code EC (Code 14) driver’s licence.
• A valid PrDP, including the required category for dangerous goods where applicable.
• At least 3 years of experience as a petroleum tanker driver.
• A safe driving record.
• A clean criminal record.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to:

• Prepare the vehicle before each trip.
• Safely operate ultra-heavy-duty vehicles.
• Conduct vehicle inspections before and after every trip.
• Ensure the vehicle is roadworthy before leaving the depot.
• Safely transport petroleum products to customers.
• Handle delivery documentation from dispatch to the customer and back to the distribution centre.
• Take responsibility for goods transported.
• Work shifts, weekends and public holidays when required.
• Follow reasonable instructions from the supervisor.
• Maintain high standards of safety and compliance throughout all operations.
