Job Overview

Unitrans is seeking an experienced Petroleum Tanker Driver to join its Cape Fuel operation in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating ultra-heavy vehicles with a gross vehicle mass or gross combination mass exceeding 25,000 kg.

The role requires an experienced professional driver with petroleum or dangerous goods transport experience, a strong safety record and the ability to comply with strict vehicle roadworthiness and operational requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric / NQF Level 4 or Grade 10 / NQF Level 2.
• Valid Code EC driver’s licence.
• Valid PrDP, with the appropriate Dangerous Goods (D) authorisation where required.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a petroleum tanker driver.
• Safe and proven driving record.
• Clean criminal record.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the vehicle before each trip.
• Safely operate ultra-heavy-duty vehicles.
• Conduct vehicle inspections before and after every trip.
• Ensure the vehicle is roadworthy before leaving the depot.
• Transport petroleum products safely and responsibly.
• Handle all required documentation from dispatch through to the customer and back to the distribution centre.
• Take responsibility for goods transported to customers.
• Ensure all delivery documentation is correctly completed.
• Follow company safety procedures and operational requirements.
• Be willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Carry out other reasonable duties as instructed by the supervisor.
